American University of Beirut Mastercard Foundation Scholar Programme USA for 2022/2023.

In collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation, the American University of Beirut (AUB) is pleased to announce the availability of full scholarships for study at the graduate and undergraduate levels for the upcoming academic year.

The purpose of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at American University in Beirut (AUB) is to train young people to become change agents in their own communities, countries, and regions of the world.

In addition to the classes that count toward their degree, the program requires its scholars to participate in a number of workshops, classes, and fieldwork experiences.

About the American University of Beirut

The American University of Beirut is a private, non-sectarian and independent university that was chartered in New York. Its campus is located in Beirut, which is located in Lebanon.

The university is run by a private and independent board of trustees, and it provides courses leading to the degrees of bachelor’s, master’s, doctor of medicine, and doctor of philosophy.

The endowment at the American University of Beirut is roughly $768 million, whereas the operating budget for the university is $423 million. There are a total of 64 buildings on the campus, some of which include the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC, formerly known as AUH – American University Hospital), seven hostels, four libraries, and three museums.

Before enrolling at the American University of Beirut, about one fifth of the student body had completed their secondary education or their undergraduate studies at an institution located outside of Lebanon.

On the other hand, alumni of the university may be found living in more than 120 countries across the globe. English is the medium of teaching in this course. The university complies with all regulations set forth by the New York Board of Regents regarding the registration of degrees awarded to students.

In June of 2004, the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools presented the American University of Beirut with a certificate of institutional accreditation for its educational offerings.

2009, 2016, and 2019 were the years in which the college successfully defended and reaffirmed its accreditation. The Graduate Public Health Program that is housed under the Faculty of Health Sciences was granted approval by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) in September of 2006. (FHS).

The program received an additional seven years of accreditation in the year 2012. The Graduate Public Health Program at the American University of Beirut is the only CEPH-accredited public health program in the Arab world, Asia, or Africa. It was the first public health program to receive accreditation from the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) outside of the continent of North America.

On October 13, 2007, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) gave the Rafic Hariri School of Nursing at AUB approval for its Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs. In 2012, the accreditation was confirmed once again.

The accreditation for the Suliman S. Olayan School of Business came in the month of April 2009 from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (OSB). In 2014, the accreditation was once again confirmed.

In addition, the AACSB is the preeminent international accrediting institution for degree programs in business administration and accounting at all levels, including bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral.

AACSB International accreditation is held by a percentage of business schools that is significantly lower than five percent of all business schools worldwide. 141 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as 36 certifications and diplomas, are available to students at the American University of Beirut.

The institution began offering Ph.D. programs once more in the year 2007. Additionally, the American University of Beirut is home to dozens of research centers and institutes, all of which sponsor and encourage study in a wide variety of academic disciplines.

Since its beginnings as the Syrian Protestant College, the American University of Beirut has maintained an active publishing program (SPC). The Nami Jafet Memorial Library at AUB houses a research in Arabic on the management of disease that was originally published in 1881.

Scholarship Benefit

Young people are being prepared to be agents of change in their own communities, countries, and regions through the Mastercard Foundation Scholar Programme that is being offered at the university. In addition to the classes that are required for the student’s degree, the scholarship requires them to participate in a series of workshops, classes, and fieldwork.

Eligibility

Graduate students who meet the following criteria will be considered for Mastercard Foundation Scholar Programme scholarships:

  • Nationals of Africa
  • Nationals of Lebanon
  • Refugees and displaced people living in Lebanon

The following criteria will be used to select and admit students:

  • Academic promise
  • Financial need
  • Leadership potential
  • Desire to give back and go back to one’s community
  • Evidence of meeting RUSE (Readiness for University Studies in English) requirement
