About the Commonwealth Scholarships

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission of the United Kingdom (CSC) provides the primary government-sponsored scholarship programme with worldwide development goals. The Department for International Development sponsors the CSC, which is an executive non-departmental public entity (DFID).

The CSC operates under the context of the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) and exemplifies the UK’s unwavering commitment to the Commonwealth. By helping innovators and future leaders from across the Commonwealth and drawing exceptional talent to British universities, our work blends sustainable development and the national interest of the United Kingdom.

We employ stringent standards to guarantee that our programmes promote fairness and inclusion, reward merit, and provide broad access, particularly for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. DFID is our leading department and primary sponsor, providing money only for candidates from low- and middle-income nations.

We also receive funding from the Department for Education (DfE) and the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) for postdoctoral fellowships and scholarships for candidates from high-income countries, respectively.

Scholarship Benefits

The purpose of the Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships, which are funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), is to provide talented and motivated individuals with access to training and skills necessary for sustainable development that are unavailable in their home countries.

Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships are intended for candidates from qualified low- and middle-income Commonwealth nations who wish to pursue part-time taught Master’s studies at UK universities while remaining in their home countries.
