Coronavirus: Everything you need to know
#coronavirus – The coronavirus has been in existence since the late 1960s and the earliest ones discovered was an infectious bronchitis virus in chickens and human patients with the regular cold later named human coronavirus 229E and human coronavirus OC43.
Coronaviruses are different in risk factor. Some can take the life of more than 30% of those infected such as MERS-CoV and some are harmless such as the common cold.
Coronaviruses causes cold with major symptoms such as sore throat from swollen adenoids, fever.
The coronavirus can cause pneumonia and bronchitis. The much talked human coronavirus discovered in 2003 the SARS-CoV which causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) has a different pathogenesis because it causes both upper and lower respiratory tract infections.
In December 2019, an outbreak of pneumonia was reported in Wuhan, China. The outbreak was traced to a novel strain of coronavirus on the 31st of December 2019 which was given a temporary name 2019-nCoV by the World Health Organization (WHO), which is now known as COVID-19.
We now have a high number of those who tested positive all around the globe and also over 15,000 confirmed deaths.
The strain has been identified as a new strain of BetaCoronavirus from group 2B with approximately 70% genetic resemblance to the SARS-CoV.
The virus has placed many nations in lockdowns and also leading them to place restrictions on travelling. Various sporting activities all round the world like the Olympic games, Euro 2020, Copa America, and other sporting activities to be placed on hold and also shutting down economies.
There has been a large influx in the demand for toilet papers, hand sanitizers, face mask etc. And most people are currently on quarantine or self-isolation.
There are no way we going to be talking about the coronavirus in years to come that the name Wuhan won’t pop out.
Let’s get a little insight about Wuhan and also, let humanity not place the blame on China but rather accept it as it is bound to happen and learn to be prepared for other things to come.
The city was once the capital of China for a brief moment in 1927 under the left wing of the Kuomintang (KMT) government led by Wang Jingwei.
Early 2020, Wuhan is mostly recognized as the origin of outbreak of the pandemic of COVID-19. The city has been under lockdown since early January 2020 as a result of the 2019-2020 coronavirus pandemic.
Wuhan is been considered as the political, financial, educational, commercial, and cultural center of Central China. Wuhan natives, speak a variety of southwestern mandarin Chinese also known as the Wuhan dialect which has slight difference between the districts of Wuhan.
The city is the leading educational hub for china with 35 higher educational institutions which include well known institutions like Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Wuhan University. The Wuhan railway hub is considered to be one of the four key railway hubs of the PRC.
The coronavirus will go off in a matter of time, but it shouldn’t be allowed to give the city of Wuhan a bad name. Life threatening virus could arise from anywhere but we should look ahead of it and join hands together to make life more bearable and beautiful to live.
It shouldn’t be called the Wuhan virus or the virus from China but rather we change our focus on how to go back to our daily activities and help make the World a better place. cheers!!
