Danish Government 2023 Masters Scholarship For International Students

The Danish Government Scholarship program provides a limited number of tuition waivers and grants to students at the University of Copenhagen (UCPH).

The scholarships are competitive and are available to highly talented students from non-EU/EEU countries with outstanding academic records. All non-EU/EEA applicants who are accepted will be automatically considered for the scholarship.

The Danish Government Scholarship is awarded in the form of full or partial tuition fee waivers and/or an amount sufficient to cover basic living expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for a scholarship, you must be:

  • A national of a country other than the EU, EEA (European Economic Area), or Switzerland
  • Accepted into a master’s program at the University of Copenhagen
  • A time-limited residence permit has been granted for the purpose of attending a higher education program in Denmark.

If you meet the following criteria, you are ineligible for a Danish Government Scholarship:

  • Have a legal claim to Danish citizens’ rights
  • Are eligible for a grant under Danish law under the State Educational Grant and Loan Scheme (SU)
  • Have been granted a residence permit at the time of admission under the Danish Aliens Consolidations Act 9c, subsection 1, as the child of a foreign citizen granted a residence permit under the Danish Aliens Consolidations Act 9m, and who is a citizen of a country that has not acceded to the EU or is not covered by the EEA agreement.

How to apply

  • All non-EU/EEA applicants to the University of Copenhagen’s MA/MSc degree programs will be automatically considered for the Danish Government Scholarship, assuming they are eligible. As a result, there is no need to apply.
  • Those who are nominated will be contacted by UCPH via the email address provided in their admission application. The scholarship must be declined or accepted by the nominees.
  • If you are offered a scholarship but do not accept it by the deadline specified in the e-mail, the scholarship will be revoked and awarded to another applicant. As a result, it is critical that you check your e-mail on a regular basis. The University recommends checking your spam folder or other e-mail filters, as emails may be routed to the spam folder from your inbox.
