Young people from around the world are gathering in Rotterdam to shape the Global Goal on Adaptation. Participants of the two-day program will join capacity-building workshops in the field of leadership and adaptation, follow keynote speeches by experts in the field of climate action, and deliberate in working groups on a written outcome of the first Global Youth Adaptation Summit, to be presented to the Friends of GCA High-Level Dialogue and at the Pre-COP27. In addition, the Summit is a platform to exchange experiences in implementing adaptation solutions with young people from around the world. The Summit will be concluded with a shared meal by young leaders and high-level dignitaries in the field of international diplomacy.

Outcomes

These recommendations will be shared with GCA’s CEO Prof. Dr. Patrick Verkooijen, H.E. Ban Ki-moon and President Macky Sall of Senegal, at the Friends of GCA High-Level Dialogue. In addition, the outcomes will be presented to decision-makers in a publication at the Pre-COP27, thereby placing young people’s views at the heart of the UN climate negotiations.

Commitment: Youth shaping the Global Goal on Adaptation

Young leaders selected to take part in the Summit will be required to engage in adaptation efforts in their communities leading up to and after the Summit, through:
