Harvard University Academy Scholars Program in the USA for 2022/2023

The Academy Scholars Program seeks out and supports excellent young scholars whose work combines disciplinary competence in the social sciences or law with a grasp of the language, history, and culture of nations or areas other than the United States or Canada.

All recent PhD grads and current doctorate candidates in the social sciences or law are welcome to apply for the Harvard Academy Scholars Program, which is offered by Harvard University.

About the University

Harvard University is a private Ivy League research university in Cambridge, Massachusetts . It was established in 1636 as Harvard College and named for its first benefactor, the Puritan clergyman John Harvard. It is the oldest institution of higher learning in the United States and is consistently ranked among the most distinguished in the world.

Program Benefits

Postdoctoral Academy Scholars will be paid a salary of $70,000 each year.
Scholars who are chosen before completing their PhD will receive a $35,000 annual stipend until they are given their PhD.
Funding for conference and research travel, research assistants, and health insurance coverage are added to the stipend.

Eligibility for Harvard University Academy Scholars Program

All competent applicants are welcome, regardless of nationality, gender, or color. Additionally;

Only recent PhD (or comparable professional school degree) recipients and doctoral candidates in the social sciences or law are eligible to apply.
Before applying to become Academy Scholars, those still pursuing a PhD should have completed their normal training and be far advanced in the composition of their dissertations.
If you have completed a PhD program, you must have done so within three years of the application deadline of October 1.
For candidates applying by the October 1, 2021 deadline, completion of a PhD or equivalent degree must have occurred after September 30, 2018.

All application materials for the Harvard University Academy Scholars Program must be submitted by October 1. We do not accept applications that are submitted after the deadline.

The completed application will include:

A cover letter outlining the applicant’s academic field, nation or region of specialization, and suggested research topic in brief.
Curriculum vitae (CV) or resumé, which should include a list of publications
Research proposal (maximum of 2500 words); includes conceptual aims as well as planned methodological and disciplinary efforts.
