About the ADA University

The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan established ADA University through a decree dated January 13, 2014. The University is a public institution of higher education that provides undergraduate and graduate degree programmes in addition to advancing research.

The University is the legal successor to the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA) and the University of Information Technologies. In January 2014, they combined to form ADA University.

In January 2007, the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, which was established on March 6, 2006, began offering an Advanced Foreign Service Program to diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and government employees. In September 2009, the Academy offered its first master’s degree, followed by bachelor’s degrees in September 2011.

Scholarship Benefits

For their first academic semester, incoming undergraduate and graduate fellows are entitled to receive the following benefits:

  • Cost associated with the dormitory selected by the University (the housing fee cannot be transferred to a student account directly or used for another purpose)
  • An annual health insurance
  • 400 AZN a month stipend for the Fall (September – January) and Spring (February – May) semesters if the student resides in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Eligibility Criteria

The fellowship is renewable for undergraduates if specific requirements are met and funds are available:

  • Returning students must maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.5 in undergraduate programmes and 3.00 in graduate programmes. Students who enrol in a foundation level must pass the level.

  • Students who are judged to have violated the ADA University Honor Code once are ineligible for international fellowships for the remainder of their academic careers.
  • Students who do not satisfy the fellowship standards are placed on fellowship probation for the following semester, but they do not lose their fellowship benefits. Students will only lose fellowship benefits if they fail to meet the criteria for two consecutive terms. The fellowship will be reinstated as soon as the qualifications are again completed.
  • Students awarded the Alimardan Bay Topchubashov International Fellowship must graduate within the normative study period, which is 5 years (10 semesters) for undergraduate students enrolled in an EAPP programme, 4 years (8 semesters) for undergraduate students directly enrolled in a degree programme, and 2 years (4 semesters) for graduate students. The Alimardan Bay Topchubashov International Fellowship does not cover semesters after the standard study period.
