Based on bilateral agreements (between the governments/ministries), the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic grants bilateral scholarships to foreign nationals for the academic year 2023/2024.

About the Slovak Government 

The head of the Executive is the Government of the Slovak Republic (SR). It is made up of the Prime Minister, who is in charge, his or her Deputies, and Government Ministers.

The Prime Minister makes suggestions to the President of the Slovak Republic about who should be in the government. The SR National Council is in charge of how the government makes decisions and runs things (the Slovak parliament).

The SR Constitution says that the Government is in charge of making public policy for the country, so it has the power to make big decisions about the economy and social security.

Scholarship Benefits

The monthly scholarship amount for academic year 2020/21, unless otherwise provided in bilateral agreement:

  • Students (bachelor’s and master’s level) pay 280 euros per month.
  • Monthly tuition for PhD students is 330 euros.
  • For university professors and researchers: 550 euros per month.

Eligibility Criteria

The Slovak Republic Bilateral Scholarships are often intended for bachelor’s/level master’s students and/or PhD students conducting research.

How to apply

Slovak Republic The responsible authorities of eligible countries nominate candidates for bilateral scholarships. The national authorities are either education ministries or agencies designated by the education ministries in the home nation.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sport of the Slovak Republic will not process applications provided directly by applicants.
