Student Access Scholarships for Undergraduate Students at Flinders University

The University has established the Flinders University Student Access Scholarships to provide financial assistance to students from low SES backgrounds who are beginning their first year of undergraduate study at Flinders University and have never attended any other tertiary institution.

$5,000 scholarships will be available for the first year of study at Flinders University, contingent on the availability of funds.

About the Flinders University

The public Flinders University is located in Adelaide, South Australia. It was founded in 1966 and named after Matthew Flinders, who explored and mapped the South Australian coastline in the early nineteenth century.

Flinders is a green university[citation needed] and a member of the Innovative Research Universities (IRU) Group, ranking 10-16 in Australia and 36th in the world among universities founded in the last 50 years.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for the scholarship must comply with the following requirements:

  • Australian residents;
  • Beginning their first year of undergraduate study at Flinders University; and
  • Full-time student at Flinders University; and
  • Eligible for or receiving Commonwealth Income Support, or;
  • Be able to provide evidence of financial hardship; and
  • Seeking admission to their course on the basis of their ATAR, VET qualification, Foundation Studies, Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT), or Work and Life Experience/Special Entry, or who have already gained admission.

How to apply

Online applications must be submitted via the Flinders University Student System. To submit an application, applicants must log in and navigate to the My Scholarships tab. This scholarship’s application form is titled ” Flinders University Student Access Scholarships,” or you can search for it using the keyword “Access.”

As part of the application process, the following documentation will be required:

  • Applicants who are receiving a Commonwealth Income Support payment will be required to provide proof. This can be accomplished by uploading a recent Centrelink (or DVA) Income Statement showing that you are currently receiving means-tested government benefits.
  • Applicants who do not receive a Commonwealth Income Support payment as described above must complete the Financial Hardship Form, which can be downloaded from this page.
