About University

Formerly known as the University of Western Sydney, Western Sydney University is a multi-campus university located in the Greater Western area of Sydney, Australia.

In 1989, the Nepean College of Advanced Education and the Hawkesbury Agricultural College merged to form what is now known as the Institution of Western Sydney, a federated network university. Prior to that year, the university existed in a different guise.

In 1989, Macarthur Institute of Higher Education became a part of the university after it was merged with it. Instead of being organized as a federation, the Institution of Western Sydney was reorganized in 2001 to function as a single university with many campuses.

The University of Western Sydney became known as Western Sydney University in 2015 following a rebranding effort that led to the institution’s name being changed from the University of Western Sydney.

Western Sydney University has campuses in Bankstown, Blacktown, Campbelltown, Hawkesbury, Liverpool, Parramatta, and Penrith. It offers degrees at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and higher research levels.

In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for the year 2021, Western Sydney University was placed in the top 300 universities in the world and tied for 18th place in Australia.

It was ranked 11th out of the 40 universities in Australia due to the fact that in 2013, the university was successful in collecting approximately $5.8 million in grants from the famous Australian Research Council for a total of 18 Discovery Projects.

On the other hand, the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment was not formally inaugurated until the year 2012, and it was made possible by a grant of $40 million from the Education Investment Fund of the Australian Government.

Eligibility

Candidates for Honors International Scholarships must meet the following requirements:

  • Whether you are a domestic or international student
  • Have an unconditional offer of admission or be currently enrolled full-time or part-time in Physics Honours at the University of Sydney’s School of Physics.
  • Have a Distinction average or higher in your undergraduate studies.
