How It Works
A QR code encodes text data as a grid of black-and-white squares, with built-in error-correction so it can still be scanned even if part of it is damaged or obscured. What a scanner reads back is plain text formatted for a specific purpose — a URL opens a browser, mailto:you@example.com opens an email draft, tel:+234... starts a call, and a WIFI:T:WPA;S:name;P:password;; string tells a phone to join that Wi-Fi network automatically. This tool builds that text string from what you enter, then uses the qrcode library to draw the corresponding grid onto a canvas in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the Wi-Fi QR code work on all phones?+
Most modern Android and iOS camera apps recognize the standard WIFI: QR format and offer to join the network directly. A small number of older devices may not support it and will just read it as text.
Is my Wi-Fi password sent anywhere?+
No — the QR code is generated entirely in your browser using the qrcode JavaScript library. Nothing you type is uploaded to a server.
What image format can I download?+
The QR code downloads as a PNG image, generated directly from the on-screen canvas.
Why won't my QR code scan?+
Very long text (e.g. a long URL with many query parameters) produces a denser, harder-to-scan code — try shortening the URL first. Also make sure there's enough contrast and lighting, and that the whole code, including the white margin, is visible to the camera.
