How It Works
Reading time is calculated as: reading time (minutes) = word count ÷ reading speed (words per minute). You can either paste your text (its words are counted automatically) or type a word count directly, then adjust the WPM. Silent adult reading speed for average text is commonly cited as 200-250 words per minute, so the default here is 225 WPM — but you can raise it for skimming or lower it for reading aloud (typical speaking pace is closer to 130-160 WPM).
